Get out of the bushes!

John 1:1-5

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. 4In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it

I needed this encouragement today for many reasons. The church has allowed our light to become dim in many ways. Understand me, I see many bright lights, but it will take many more to chase this darkness out. I continue to hear surprise and outrage from Christians about the current state of our education system. Still, I would like to suggest that we are seeing the teaching of evolution coming to fulfillment. Evolution and creation can not be accurate at the same time. On Sunday, we teach creation, and on Monday, we send our children to learn evolution. The indoctrination started years ago. The battle of good and evil has always been won or lost in your mind. Paul says in Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Your pastor, Sunday school teacher, or TV evangelist cannot renew your mind for you. So many Christians avoid the Bible because it doesn’t deliver what they are looking for, and they miss everything they are looking for in avoiding it. Jesus is the Word, and He has written the most extraordinary love story ever told to you. You are His most incredible creation and the reason He was willing to die. Your light is the freedom of guilt and shame. Return to your first love. He calls us Beloved!
