Romans 1: 18- 23
18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,g in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things
I have spent several years now asking for revival in this country, asking for God to raise up His church and stir the hearts of His people. Recently I began praying for wisdom and understanding so that I might grow closer to the Lord and follow Him into a deeper relationship. I have been convicted about this passage in Romans and I am sad about the amount of conformity to this world I have in my own life. The Bible says “be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” what about my life says I think differently than the world around me and then I realized this is the very thing God has been teaching me since the day I met Him.
Hebrews 2: 1Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. 2For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, 3how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard, 4while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will
“There is nothing new under the sun”, the enemy uses the same tricks and lies that he has always used and the church has surrendered the truth for comfort. I know that sounds harsh and it is not by any means all-inclusive but as a collective whole we have failed. I am convicted as I look at my family and see all the missed opportunities to live out my walk in front of them. I’m not talking about making mistakes, I do that often, but how do I respond to them? Where is my thinking? What is the depth of my belief in God’s word? For the most part I have the big stuff covered like I don’t commit murder or adultery but worry that is kind of a little one and everybody does it. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God”, how about “so whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin” sorry but if you read that now you know, and there is no such thing as little sins. Even those who do not know Him don’t commit murder and adultery but they worry and quarrel, and have no peace. I continue to come back to the renewing of the mind, the one thing that truly sets me apart. Romans 1: 18-23 has already happened and now our nation is reaping Romans 1: 24-32; there is no argument, no hate, and no judgement the call is to humble myself before the Lord, to have the mind of Christ which according to my life is an overabundance of grace and mercy. Still He calls me Beloved!
